The picturesque village of Langebaan is about 100kms from Cape Town and lies alongside the scenic Langebaan Lagoon which is 17 km long and 12,5 km wide. It is one of the oldest towns in South Africa with a settlement history dating back more than 400 years and an archaeological history dating back a few million years. A fossilised skeleton from the Stone Age was found twelve kilometres east of the local farm Elandsfontein, and this fossil deposit is considered one of the richest in the world. Langebaan is an outdoor-lover's haven, offering safe beaches, kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, diving, bird-watching, hiking and golfing. There are also restaurants, a modern shopping centre, private school and medi-clinic in the area.
