The third-oldest town in South Africa, Paarl is renowned for its illustrious past and scenic beauty, and continues to offer exciting prospects for holiday-makers, businessmen and industrialists. Nestled between Paarl Mountain and the majestic Du Toit's Kloof Mountain, the town straddles the Berg River and is surrounded by wine and fruit farms, lovely wooded areas, as well as five mountain passes. Paarl's Main Street is approximately 11 kilometers long and interspersed with fruit and vine farms, giving it a rural atmosphere. It has ample provincial and private hospitals, primary and high schools, sporting facilities, stores, restaurants, guest houses and even a 5-star hotel. The town lies 60km northeast of Cape Town and is on the main railway line between Cape Town and Johannesburg. It is a 30-minute drive from Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
